Solving Problems: The Shelly Conundrum
One thing that I struggle with, being an Electrician, I cannot just leave the shelly's in my roof space. It goes against everything I have ever been taught. I have tried to use Wago boxes, but none of these fit the Shelly's (even the newer and smaller Gen3 Shelly's). When I can access the loft, I can put an adaptable box and have the connections in there. Realisticly though, there must be a better way. - For Context, in the UK it is only recently that Electricians have been placing Neutrals at the light switches, before this, it was only a perminant and a switch live, so most smart relays cannot work.
I started to look into this, and it apppears it wasn't just me, on Thingverse, there are lots of different users offering solutions to this. However, I ony saw one that was for the Gen3's. Even then, this design doesn't take into account that in the UK, we cannot have floating connections. We need something to hold our Connector blocks, or our Wagos'. This is where I am starting from. I am going to use the base design from Thinkverse, and redesign the connections space to allow this to hold the required Wago's (Wago 221's if anyone is interested). But this still needs to be small enough to fit up a standard spotlight hole (70mm). I imagine this will take me a while to figure out completely, but as soon as I do, I will update you all and start offering these on our website.
